1987-1988: Eniricerche fellowship on "Vesicles and Monolayers".

1989-1992: PhD in Chemical Sciences (curriculum in Physical Chemistry of Interfaces) at the University of Florence. Title: "Solvent Effect on Aggregated Systems". Advisor: Prof. G. Gabrielli (University of Florence); co-advisor: Prof. S.H. Chen (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
