Dear friends, CSGI and the scientific community it represents, which gathers over 350 researchers from all over the world, expresses its utmost support for all diplomatic actions aimed at the pursuit of peace as a fundamental and universal value. For this reason CSGI joins the appeal of the General Secretary of the United Nations, dated February 23 2022, on the respect for the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, on the need to establish a ceasefire and to undertake the path of dialogue and negotiation. CSGI also joins the awareness-raising action promoted by the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities (CRUI) "A strong and immediate diplomatic action for Ukraine"; we firmly reaffirm the importance of peace and dialogue as irreplaceable values for the coexistence between people, condemning every act of violence and abuse of human rights and fundamental freedoms. To all those involved in the war, and in particular to the academic communities, CSGI expresses genuine solidarity and closeness. CSGI is ready to adhere to humanitarian initiatives and actions in support of the population and the scientific community, innocent victims of the ongoing conflict.
