CSGI researchers published a new article titled " Twin chain polymer networks: recent developments in hydrogels for Cultural Heritage" in the Polymer journal.
The study explores the new class of “twin-chain” (TC) polymer gel networks, developed using freeze-thaw (FT) cycles on solutions of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with two different hydrolysis degree and molar mass. The article highlights the latest developments in this new class of gels, and their promising applications in the art conservation.
These advanced gels offer a sustainable and effective solution for preserving valuable cultural artifacts, ensuring their protection for future generations. Beyond their role in conservation, these innovative hydrogels represent a versatile class of environmentally friendly soft materials with potential impact in several fields: detergency, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food industries, tissue engineering, and others.
