1980: Degree in Chemistry, at the University of Florence (110 cum laude/110). Thesis title: "Dehydration and Rehydration of Hydrated Crystals and Nucleation Laws".

1982-1983: National Council of Researches of Italy Scholarship (Polymeric Foams Project) on "Thermodynamics and Rheology of Polymeric Foams".

1983-1986: PhD in Chemical Sciences, curriculum Physical Chemistry of Interfaces, section Physical Chemistry at the University of Florence. Title: "Study of Physicochemical Properties of Model Systems for Cell Membranes. Monolayers and Bilayers of Cholesterol, Phospholipids and Poly-g-methyl-L-glutamete". Advisor: Prof. E. Ferroni (University of Florence); co-advisors: Prof. G. Gabrielli & G. Martini (University of Florence).

1986-1990: Studies and research activity at the Department of Chemistry, University of Florence and Teacher of Natural Sciences and Chemistry at the Secondary Schools.

1990-2001: Researcher at the Dept. of Chemistry of the University of Florence.

1994: Short-term visiting Research fellow at the Collège de France, Laboratoire de Physique de la Matière Condensée.

2001-2011: Associate Professor in Physical Chemistry at the Dept. of Chemistry of the University of Florence.
